I am a pediatric nurse who quit her job at The Children’s Hospital Colorado to explore life in another country. Selling or giving away all that I own I have ventured south of the border to Cuenca, Ecuador with my dog Barkley. Here are the stories of my life change.

Selling My Home and Then…Being Homeless! Well This Isn’t So Bad!!

Three suitcases in hand along with my best friend Barkley I arrived at my dear friend’s home to live for 12 days before heading to Cuenca.

I was escorted downstairs into Kayla’s bedroom. Kayla has since married but her room remains the cheerful abode of a teenager. I love this haven!! Walls painted light purple and lime green with poka-dots yellow, orange, blue and green. A silver princess bed quilted with green poka-dots and dark purple sheets. This place makes me HAPPY!

Then there is the back yard. David’s masterpiece. This landscaped paradise in the middle of Aurora, Colorado is of green grass, shaded by mature Aspen and Cottonwood trees facing west overlooking the Rocky Mountains. On the northwest corner you can hear the gentle sounds of the small, peaceful waterfall that splashes into the koi fish pond. Then there are the Tiki fire lanterns that once lit has you believing you are in Hawaii. I sit there with my buddy Cindy and drink glasses of wine and talk about our long history of friendship. Fun memories.

Even my dog Barkley is smiling all the time. She just adores my dear friends and frequently shows her affection with her special full armed hugs. Yes, homelessness is lovely at this moment. Thanks to my dear and hospitable friends.
